Slot Machines
The pleasure in playing slots comes from the tranquility of being in full control without dealing with other players, dealers, or waiting around for the next round to begin. Add to that the prospect of making high winnings and it is easy to understand why slots are still so popular. Using video technology modern slots can have several ‘reels’ on the screen and jackpots can be won by making lines that go in diagonals or are even just if a certain number of the same symbol shows up anywhere on the screen after the spin.
Although there isn’t much that you can do to change your odds once you spin the reels there are a few tricks you can pull to better your winning chances before you hit the ’spin’ button.
The first detail to be aware of is that not all slot machines have the same return percentage. This is the percentage of money that is returned of the cash that is put in. Return percentages can run from as low as 87% to as high as 98% so of course you should try for the higher return percentages.
The second most important rule to abide by is to always play the maximum bet. Most slots allow you to choose how many credits you want to play with each spin. Almost always the pay-out on a maximum bet will be proportionately higher than if you play less credits. If you are going to win then you want to make the most of it!
Modern communications have enabled an interesting new addition to the world of slot machines are progressive machines. These are slots that share a common jackpot that can be between all the machines in the casino or even between different casinos. The longer the machines are played without anyone winning the higher the jackpot climbs. The jackpot on these machines can be astronomical running into millions of dollars but will only be available if you play a maximum bet. Another good reason to hit the ‘max’ button every time.
Finally to make sure you don’t walk away disappointed you should always carefully bankroll your cash every time you play. Any winnings you make along the way you should put aside and not put back in the machine. That way even if you don’t come out ahead at the end of your session you may at least have something to show for you efforts.

Slots Machine Gameplay Strategies
The idea behind playing slots, is to make the symbols that spin around, line up with other symbols, so as to create a win as per the machine’s payout table. Players choose how much to bet and how many lines to play.
The payout schedule displays the machines winning combinations and the values for each combination. These values vary according to the credit bet with each spin.
Some machines give the player the opportunity to win money via secondary game. This usually involves the player betting half or all of his/her winnings on the possibility that a hidden card is either red or black. Some machines also offer free and/or ‘feature’ games.
There are generally two kinds of slots machines: standard and progressive. Standard machines function on their own and payout winnings according to their payout table. Progressive machines are a series of machines linked up to each other. These machines share a common jackpot or jackpot values. The shared jackpots grow over time, as more and more people play the machines without winning a jackpot. As you can imagine, these jackpots can become enormous. Linked progressive machines may reside in the same room, same building, anywhere within a city, country or even globally. This is particularly true of Internet-based slots games.
How much can a slot machine payout? Slots are generally programmed to pay a percentage of their takings. This percentage usually sits between 85% and 98%. The greater the payout percentage, the more the machine will payout.
PLAYING TIPS
Choose a machine that advertises a high payout percentage (between 95% and 99%, if possible). These games might have a high value minimum bet.
Try to understand the machine’s payout table, particularly in relation to the amount you are betting. It would be sad to discover that your winnings would have been significantly greater had you bet a little more.
Some progressive slots only offer the jackpot prize to players that bet the maximum amount. For this reason, it is important that you understand the machine’s payout table before playing.
The amount of credit bet is not related to the likelihood of spinning a winning combination.
It can sometimes be more rewarding to bet the maximum amount allowed per line. As this option can quickly drain your funds, it might be worthwhile finding a machine that allows betting in smaller denominations: quarters, for example, as opposed to dollars.
Recognize when a jackpot (large value) has been won. Some machines will ask you to call an attendant who will organize payment to you. Never handle or walk away from a machine that has just produced a jackpot winning. Call the attendant or have someone call him/her for you while you wait at the machine.
If you play slots at the same establishment and on a regular basis, try to take note of which machines seem to be paying out more often. If there are any such machines around, you might want to consider playing one at some point. Some of these machines might be positioned in places that are more likely to be noticed. This is so as to attract prospective players.
If you’ve played a particular machine for a while and have had little success, you might like to try another machine. You never know: your luck just might change.
Find out if the venue you intend to play at offers other incentives, such as points, meals, accommodation, etc, that goes with your game play. This however doesn’t mean that you should play purely for these secondary benefits.
Try to recognize when your luck may have changed. There are many examples of people winning significantly then “getting greedy”, so to speak, and losing everything.
Make sure you empty the machine of your credit prior to leaving it. Each year, people accidentally abandon machines that still have their credit inside.
Before playing, decide how much you are comfortable losing. If you have played and lost this amount, you will know when to leave.
Don’t bet more than you can afford to lose and remember to always have fun

Earn Money Playing Slot Machines. Or Not!
There’s always a constant battle between “us” (the players) and “them” (casino) and most of the time we’re pretty equal, until the slot machine suddenly turns into a money-leeching demon and starts eating our cash. So, after losing again, you ended up reading this article that has a title which gives you some hope.
Not that I want to sound rude, but reconsider because you won’t win your money back. Every bet you make equals giving your money away. Actually, there’s only one way to gain a profit visiting a casino - that’s when you sign up for a casino’s club card and go visit the place once in a while. You won’t play but always claim your “Club Member Bonus” free drink. After drinking it you should leave the place, but knowing you guys, that almost never happens.
For people who still believe that they can win with slot machines, I have listed some myths and rumors that aren’t true. Believing in them brings you debts and misery.
Some people believe that a poorly paying slot machine is about to hit big, maybe even a jackpot, so it would be smart to keep on playing or even raise the bets::
Well, actually there’s no difference if the machine has been paying poorly for a long time or not, because each spin is unique and totally random (IF, that is, you’re playing at least Casino Control Commission or a GamblingRalf approved casino and the machine uses well-known software). There’s different situations in land based casinos, because even if they claim that slot machines payout percentage is fixed and constant, it still happens sometimes. The payout percentage has been lowered to nonexistent and you can keep on playing and losing forever. There’s also no such thing as “feeding the slot machine” (this equals losing your money in order to win it back later) or “milking it”.
Talking on a cell phone when gambling drives high tech slot machines crazy and helps to win big…or not! Actually some cell phones damage digital slot machines (especially before GSM coverage, when NMT was a superhit), but I haven’t heard any stories of players being able to cheat the casino with this trick and withdraw the money.
I know a few players who have had sudden $100,000 on their bankroll and weren’t paid, because the computer chip made a mistake (probably caused by cell phone). Every bet and win has to be proved by a slot machine’s previous winnings history, which is saved and constantly checked.
::Temperature of the coins affect slot machines and payout rates. Hot coin means more money!::
Another twisted fairytale. If you’re already so credulous, don’t visit casinos at all - you will gamble your brains off like that and go home crying. Computer chips have a RNG chip (Random Number Generator) that isn’t affected by anything, even not by the coin you have stored and heated up between your buns.
We could continue this list, but I’d rather not do it because it all comes down to one thing - in the long run there’s no way you can beat the slot machine and steal its edge. If winning was easy, there would be no casinos. There’s no simple “How to Beat Slot Machine” tactic, only some simple rules that should be followed to keep your losings as low as possible.

Casino Slot Machines: Then and Now
Nearly everybody knows what a slot is. Even if you have never played slots you have seen them for sure. Nowadays slots are an integral part of all modern casinos. Gamblers take slots for granted, millions of people play slots, but very few know when they were invented and who was the inventor.
All slots at modern casinos are based on the construction, which was invented by Charles Fey in 1887. The first slot consisted of three mechanically spinning reels. Every reel had ten sections with different pictures on them. If three equal pictures come out at the same time it was a win. In 1889 there appeared slots, which gave an opportunity to win the jackpot. Then the jackpot was paid when the total weight of all coins in a slot machine ran up to a certain edge. But slots of this kind didn’t exist for a long time, as they didn’t make a profit for slot owners as players found a way out. It was enough to punch a playing machine and the coins came out. The next version of the game was much simpler. There were three sections (or slots) inside of a playing machine. When a player made a bet to play a slot the coin fell in one of the 3 sections. One of the sections was a winning section. If the coin fell in a winning section a player got three coins back. Later slots became more and more popular. For example, there were up to 2000 slot machines only in San Francisco. In 1895 there was invented a slot machine, on which all modern slots are based. Fey’s slot was called “Liberty Bell”. The slot consisted of three parallel discs with numbers on them. A player pulled the lever, which made the discs reel. A certain number combination was a winning combination. Then the combination of numbers “4-11-44” was a winning combination.
There were a lot of disputes about slots and their right for existence. In the 20th century they were forbidden in the USA. As a result there appeared so-called “Liberty Bell Gum Fruit” slots. The principle was the same, but people used these machines for buying a bubble gum and with the bubble gum they got an opportunity to win money, they were given a spin. The symbols were different fruits, the most popular tastes of a chewing gum. That’s why these machines were called “fruit machines”. And still a lot of slots have the same symbols. Moreover, the BAR symbol, which still exists as a wild symbol, came from those slot machines.
Other slot machines were an electro-mechanical slot machine “Money Honey”, which appeared in 1964 and “Dollar Slot Machine”, which appeared in 1970. Later in 1980 the first video poker slot machine was invented. You can see yourself that the development of slots is very fast and the main reason of it is their popularity.
Of course the modern slots are different. There is no lever to pull, it is enough to push the button, there are no mechanical reels, and you can see everything on the screen. The computer will do everything for you, you just make bets you want and push the button. The choice of slots is very wide. Everybody will be able to find something to his liking. There are different wild and scatter symbols, different bonuses and bonus rounds, and the jackpots are also different. You are only to make a choice!
The slot machines have been existing for about 120 years and one can find them nearly everywhere: at casinos, cafes, different stores and even at online casinos, which give you an opportunity to play your favorite slots at home!
